About Nordic Life

The history behind Nordic Life is 25 years of hunting imagery in Norway, from Lindesnes in south to the North Cape. Pioneer spirit and courage led the first hunters and collectors to the Scandinavian mainland, after the last glacial age, ended about 10.000 years ago. This people probably followed the edge of ice, in sealskin kayaks, when they discovered the virgin, ice-free coastline. Primitive people had an unique capacity to adapt themselves to the explosive development that appeared in the course of only 2-3 generations. They lived in harmony with the elements, self-sufficient and foresighted in all aspects of life with surroundings in constant change. Their way of living in tune with the nature, was an essential part of life itself.

Several rock carvings and archaeological finds along the coast bear witness to people with an amazing ability to adjust and strong desire to communicate with spiritual force and elemental rites of worship.
The traces they left behind has tought us a lot about their way of living and world of thought.
This pride of origin gives us the confidence and responsibility to continue to manage their land with humility and respect.


After 25 years along the beach, searching for shells, we feel like hunters and collectors of our time.
Our challenge have been to select the most outstanding shells on the beach.
There will always be new and more outstanding shells to find and as we go along, the endless ocean is waiting outside.
As you are about to discover, there is something unexpected on the horizon.

About Terje Rakke

Terje Rakke was the first Norwegian photographer to be granted an artist contract with the worlds leading picture agency Image Bank/ Getty Images in 1988. Today Getty Images is still representing Terje and Nordic Life world wide. For the past 25 years Terje has been photographing Norway from north to south and this entire material covers more than 300.000 images today. Terje has chosen about 50.000 images from this source to be made available on nordiclife.com. We carry out photographic assignments for clients within Travel, Fashion and AD agencies. Daily fee for Terje Rakke including assistant is NOK 20.000. Minimum price for assignments is NOK 5.000.

Stefanie Padtberg is educated in Germany as Photographer and Media operator.
From 2000 she was working 6 years at a mediatechnics company in Munic and went further one´s in her knowledge. Steffi has got professional skills in picture retouching, digitial prepress, design, desktop publishing and color management.
In addition she moved to stillife photography the last 3 years in Munic, involved in productions for considerable companys in different types of photographic advertising.
Stefanie has been working for Nordic Life since 2007 and is also responsible for client relations and marketing of Nordic Life AS. She is constantly providing Nordic Life with creative power and has been valuable and acquisition to the company.
